This is a true story from Rajasthan.A seth had gone out of town on some important work.By time he returned it was very late at 9it.His body ws paining.on reaching home he sat on the bed and called out to his wife saying"i m awfully thirsty and tired.Plz get me a jug of water.by time she came back with a pitcher full of water the seth had fallen asleep.
the sethii,thinking it unadvisable to wake him,thought,'he will get up ant moment becoz of the thirst.if i fall asleep and he wakes up,who will offer water to him?" So she stood silently near the bed the enitre night holding the pitcher of water.
The seth got up inly in the morning..he saw that his wife was still standing near the bed with a pitcher of water for him.and said"Aye! you r still waiting 4 me"
the sethani answered politely,"Whn u came back from the journy.......and told everything"
The seth's heart softened with admiration and gratitude for his dutiful wife.
later he spoke to his frendz and others..and story reached the king's palace.
king was feeling very fortunate and decided to honour sethani.
the king's personal honour and visit to sethani ,a neighbourhood sethani challenged her frendz the she too would show the same servitude with great ease and get king's honour.
So next day she ordered her husband to go out of town and come back only in the evening pretending to be very tired.and ...same what the 1st sethani did..orderedc to his husband to do same.
This seth followed his wife's advice .
Seth went..come back at night...sethani thought"who would come to know about it?it is just between two of us.since he has fallen asleep,what is the great idea of my remaining awake the whole night"i will get up early in the morning and stand with pitcher of water"saying this to herself she went to sleep.
The sethani was standing with a pitcher of water in the morning when seth got up.seth was pleased and story spread far ...the sethani waited till late night evening but no one came..she started think"this is being rather unfair to me .it is an act of complete injustice.the king gave so much respect to other sethani.why is he totally indifferent to me?'
She ordered her husband to demand justice.
The seth appeared in the court next day to convey.....then king advised "ony thos events in the world that take place in a natural and unplanned coursee impress others.duty and service performed with inner beauty has the fragrance of fresh flowers while that done with delieration and dramatics is like the smell of paper flowers.hence ,there is credit in being natural and not in being a copy cat"
